Background
Extensive trials were conducted in the U.K. by AEA Technology for and on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food (MAFF) using the Mico-Fiton Bioremediation Product.
Results
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food (MAFF) in exercise of its power approved the use of Micro-Fiton Bioremediation Agent within the United Kingdom controlled waters.
The Scottish Government approved Micro-Fiton as a Bioremediation Agent within the United Kingdom controlled waters adjacent to Scotland for the purpose of treating oil on the surface of the sea under the provisions of the Food and Environment Protection Act.
Fiton is the only company to have been granted a license for the biological treatment of oil contamination in open seas, inland water and coastal applications in the United Kingdom.
